Morton’s Neuroma: Common To Runners
There are a lot of different benefits we can gain from running as part of our daily exercise. Running will improve your cardiovascular health; help you lose pounds, better coordination and improved mood. Our feet are designed to support the weight of our body. Running is also the most stressful activity for our feet. Running requires constant impact and pressure to our feet.
As we run, the foot carries about two or more times our body weight. Runners are trained with a technique to reduce the risk of injuries when running. But it is not enough to prevent it totally.
Below are some of the most common injuries that a runner can have:
- Plantar Fasciitis – common symptom is pain in the heel when you first get out of your bed and it gets better as you move around.
- Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome – pain in the shin area inside the leg is the most common symptom.
- Morton’s Neuroma – pain in the forefoot region is the common symptom. This is caused by a lack of adequate cushion from your shoes. Others use orthotic support to relieve the pressure.
